Named for Chiaromonte's real ancient wine caves — 'grotte' carved directly into the rock, where locals still gather for a communal 'gruttiata' of salami, cheese, cured meats, and dried fruit. Part of the town's wider 'Agosto Chiaromontese' cultural season, alongside folk dishes tied to specific dates: rashatielle de mmeskiglie (a handmade pasta shape) on August 11th and lagana e fasul (fresh tagliatelle and beans) on the 14th.
