13th edition of a festival in a town that was 85% destroyed in the devastating 1980 Irpinia earthquake and was later awarded Italy's Gold Medal of Civil Valor by President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi in 2005 for its resilience. The old town becomes a real gastronomic arena for the Podolica — a hardy, horned mountain breed whose milk and meat define Alto Bradano cooking. Watch the cows being milked and pasta filata worked into caciocavallo by hand, then eat what comes of it: cavatelli with crushed peperoni cruschi, ricotta ravioli finished in Podolica butter, and 'bombe di toro' veal meatballs, all cooked to order.
