34th edition of a festival born in 1990, when a group of friends from the parish of San Michele Arcangelo in Rufoli set out to raise funds for a new statue of the saint after the original was stolen from the church. Once its purpose was fulfilled, the sagra simply carried on. Hand-rolled lagane, wide flat noodles, are simmered slowly with chickpeas following a recipe passed down through generations of local grandmothers, served in a small terracotta tegamino — a nod to Rufoli's own centuries-old clay-working tradition — alongside zeppole, sausage with peppers, and local wine.
