43rd edition of a festival at the Parco della Lumaca, in the San Giovanni district — organized by the Associazione Culturale della Lumaca under president Maurizio D'Imperia, and rooted in a much older tradition. Local history traces the festival's origins to the 12th century, when a pagan 'notte delle streghe' ritual coincided with the feast of San Giovanni Battista on June 23-24, evolving over centuries into today's celebration of the traditional snail sugo.
